Dr Mia (Meifang) Zhu completed her specialist endodontic training at Griffith University in 2024 and is joining the Endodontic Group in March 2025. Before pursuing her postgraduate studies and registering as a specialist, she completed her undergraduate dental studies at Griffith University in 2018 and practised as a general dentist for several years. Mia is experienced in various aspects of contemporary endodontic treatments and has a particular interest in microsurgery and the management of dental trauma.
Mia's research interest is the role of laser photobiomodulation in treating dental pulp inflammation and managing pain. She is actively involved in teaching undergradate dental students and is a reviewer for Lasers in Medical Science Journal. She is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the Australian Society of Endodontology, the American Association of Endodontists, the International Association of Dental Traumatology, the Australia Dental Association, and a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Mia also holds a postgraduate diploma in implantology and, before becoming a dentist, she trained as a midwife and also worked as a registered nurse in Emergency, ICU and operating theatres in China, the USA and Australia.
Mia is fluent in English and Mandarin. Her priorities during endodontic treatment are ensuring patient comfort and providing predictable outcomes. Outside of endodontics, she enjoys time with her family and volunteers to support the recovery of veterans and people with traumatic brain injury.
