Before Your Endodontist Appointment
-
Please complete our Medical History Form before arriving at your appointment.
Your medical history can affect the success of your dental treatment and will guide us on how to provide safe treatment for you. We encourage you to submit your medical history online in advance of your appointment, ensuring you have details on hand of any medications you are currently taking. If you would prefer to provide your medical history offline, please arrive at your appointment 30 minutes early to complete your medical history on paper.
-
Do I need a referral to see an endodontist?
You don’t need a referral to arrange a consultation with one of our endodontists, but your general dentist will help assess if your concern is, indeed, endodontic related prior to scheduling an appointment with us. Also, a current referral and x-ray from your general dentist will assist our team in scheduling the most suitable appointment to ensure the best outcome for you and your tooth.
If you don't have a referral and would prefer to see us directly, please call us to discuss your case and to arrange an initial consultation.
-
My dentist has already taken x-rays - do you need to see them?
Yes, it is always helpful to see x-rays taken by your dentist. However, we may still need to take x-rays ourselves at your consultation to identify any issues at that time.
-
Is there anything I need to prepare for my visit?
Apart from completing our online Medical History Form, there is nothing in particular you need to do in preparation for your visit. Please eat a light meal beforehand so you are comfortable for your treatment and arrive with minimal jewellery. If you prefer to complete your medical history offline, please arrive 30 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment.
You are also welcome to bring your own device and headphones in case you'd like to listen to music or an audiobook during your treatment.
-
Do I need to fast before treatment?
There is no need to fast before treatment. We encourage you to eat a light meal so you are comfortable for your treatment.
-
I’m a nervous patient. Do you offer sedation or can I take something to calm my nerves before my treatment?
If you are a nervous patient, our endodontists will discuss a range of options with you at your initial consultation, including general anaesthetic or intravenous sedation.
If you decide to go ahead with treatment under general anaesthetic or with IV sedation, there will be an additional charge due to the need for longer appointments and the use of alternative rooms.
It is important that you don’t take any medication or natural supplements before treatment without first discussing this with the endodontist.
You are also welcome to bring your own device and headphones in case you'd like to listen to music or an audiobook during your treatment.
